Benedict XVI: We Are Responsible for the Poor.
Benedict XVI today received members of the Association Pro Petri Sede and thanked them for their financial aid to the Pope which allows him to help those most in need and disadvantaged, in particular those in Haiti. Charity, the Pope noted, belongs to the nature of the Church and is a living expression of God's concern for humanity. In addition to material aid, the Pope said the Church seeks to offer that attention and love of which people who suffer have such need. Closeness to one's neighbour and conversion, the Pope said, are closely linked.
