Vatican Archives: Pius XII Wanted To Write Encyclical Against Modern Errors

Elaborated drafts for a never published encyclical against “modern errors” were found in the Vatican Archives after they were opened on March 2 for the pontificate of Pius XII (+1958).

The drafts prove that Pius XII planned to condemn errors concerning moral theology, ecclesiastical authority, and the understanding of the relation between Church and State.

The discovery was made by the German Church historian Matthias Daufratshofer (Die-Tagespost.de, March 12),

Now, the archives are again closed due to the coronavirus.
