Before you jump to the defence of the latter, be mindful that my son visited the church and convent of the alleged apparition in Quito. He talked to both the current mother superior and the local Bishop, gaining information for a documentary that he was hired to create. Short version of his investigation. Not impressed with the story nor the so-called chain of evidence, including that of the so-called incorruptible bodies of earlier nuns. Interestingly, the Bishop was also less than impressed with the Quito tale.

The current bishop in Quito doesn't have to be impressed. The residing bishop in 1611 was the one who approved the apparition. No other Marian apparition, that we know of, has given an account of things to come for our times with more detail than Our Lady of Good Success. Every one of Our Lady's prophesies in that apparition has come true.

The current bishop in Quito doesn't have to be impressed. The residing bishop in 1611 was the one who approved the apparition. In the end, it is private revelation & the faithful are not obligated to believe as it's not part of the deposit of faith. The telling factor of any apparition is always does the message contradict the Catholic faith. The message of Our Lady of Good Success does not violate the Catholic faith.

Being a traditional catholic since the late '60s, I am more than a little disappointed with the SSPX's position regarding today's consecration farce. Since the change in the Society leadership, there has been a noticeable lack of discernment relating to Church approved apparitions as well as non-approved apparitions. Perhaps it would be truer to assert that I have witnessed a rapid increase in numbers of the Society's priests being 'obedient' to the current regime's attitude and position on such matters. Either way, it is most unsettling to experience the moving away from the centrality of the Holy Mass and the salvation of souls.
