German Bishop: Synod Accelerates Secularisation

The German Synod has [further] intensified polarisations in the Church, Passau Bishop Stefan Oster told Die-Tagespost.de (5 September). "The overall tendency will accelerate a process of self-secularisation that we have been in for a long time," he said, adding the truism that church history shows that the "people of God" tend to move away from the Church when the institution becomes weaker.
