Israeli Regime Discriminates Against Christians, Muslims

A video produced by the WCC's Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel denounces ongoing threats to religious freedom and discriminatory practices, particularly against the Christian and Muslim populations of the Holy Land.

"We have worked very hard to preserve and protect the special political, cultural, multi-religious and multi-ethnic character and status of the city of Jerusalem. The multi-religious and multi-cultural status quo of Jerusalem is under threat, there is no doubt about that. But this is what we will preserve and protect," said His Beatitude Theophilos III, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem.

WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Jerry Pillay notes that "over the years we have witnessed repeated actions by the Israeli government to deny Christians and Muslims equal opportunities to exercise their religious rights and freedoms in Jerusalem".
