When St Margaret Mary had visions of Jesus, He not only asked her to spread devotion to His Sacred Heart, but He also made 12 promises to those who consecrate themselves & make reparations to His Sacred Heart.
The 12th promise spurred a devotion known as the First Fridays.
Jesus promised that those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in 9 consecutive months would not die in His disgrace or without receiving the sacraments.
The First Fridays devotion consists of:
- Sacramental Confession, in preparation for
- Holy Communion, received on 9 consecutive First Fridays of the month -
- Making a Holy Hour in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament
