That was my first thought, and then - having received it from a solid source - I accepted it as real but now, with a friend asking me the same question (is this doctored?) I have asked my source to confirm. The real issue is, though, that the very fact that this COULD be real, is a scandal in itself. Nothing Francis does should surprise us any more; shock, yes, always, but unsurprising, with bells and whistles attached.

It's for real - utterly scandalous.

@Patricia McKeever Oh no…I grieve to hear it. It’s appalling! What have we come to with such sacrilege? And for Lent! It never ends with this Vatican. Every day it’s something. Every day a scandal. Every day another round of diabolical, malformed, monstrous madness thrust upon us. Good Lord, can we not have one day — one single day — free of insanity? One day without abnormalities. One day without vile, unclean perversions poured over our heads. One day without heretics, heathens and apostates clamoring for our attention and allegiance. One day without abominations shoved relentlessly down our throats. One single, solitary day without pollutants that are utterly foreign to the Faith and hitherto unknown and unfounded in the Church and in her perennial Doctrine, being ruthlessly injected like venomous poison into that which we hold most sacred, defiling all that we deem as holy and keep closely and devoutly as holiness unto the Lord? May God, in His unfathomable mercies, help us, and grant us light in the darkness of this age.

@SonoftheChurch The fact is that, surprising as it may seem, we are favoured to be able to see this pontificate for what it is - a total aberration. Thank God for this great grace. Think of the poor souls - including some priests - who labour under the misapprehension that because it is a pope saying and doing these scandalous things, it is acceptable; they begin from the false belief that the Holy Spirit appoints popes in conclaves and thus, all is well and he must be obeyed in all things - which is an error in itself. We are not bound to blind obedience, not to any priest, bishop or pontiff. Our obedience is to the Faith. Thus, having set out from that wrong place, so to speak, they cannot reach the correct destination - which is Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. And having fallen into this error of papolatry, they fall prey to any and every other error, sacrilege and blasphemy around. These are the people who will readily follow any and every fake apparition claim in the book. It's incredible, beyond words, that anyone could be so stupid as to defend Francis and his scandalous words and actions. Incredible that so many people are now Protestant text-book "Catholics".

@English Catholic Yes I agree with your observations. Back in seminary in the 90s our profs called J.P. II a "stupid Polack" or more politely "someone who doesn't have deep theological training [!]" I can't say what some wicked priests said about Benedict XVI [Cardinal Ratzinger] b/c it's too vulgar to type! If fact I was quite shocked the latter was chosen Pope back in 2005 since I assumed (wrongly) that all priests/bishops had a very low opinion of the man, which is what I heard from my "formators".

@Patricia McKeever Yes - especially since wheelbarrows are used to fill with rubbish, to be taken away and discarded. Also, the biblical quote: "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery" juxtaposed with that cartoon is nigh on blasphemous. It looks like it's implying that Francis is some kind of deity who is leading us out of the 'slavery of Catholicism' into a 'free land'.

@English Catholic Exactly - it is beyond horrifying to see a pope portrayed as taking the Faith away in a vehicle used to carry rubbish. Downright wicked, because that image reflects what this pope has been doing all along - destroying the Faith and treating Catholic Tradition as nothing more than garbage which has outlived its usefulness. Appalling. I'm running out of words to describe this pope and his disgraceful demolition mission.
