Germany: New Bishop Doesn't See the Problems
Rottenburg-Stuttgart is the former diocese of the anti-Catholic Cardinal Walter Kasper, whose secretary Krämer used to be.
He told KNA.de (19 November) that he intends to "remain who I am" after his consecration as bishop on 1 December.
"I have received an incredible amount of sympathy and support, much more than I expected," he said. This shows that he is loved by the world that doesn't like the Church.
For Krämer, it is "a hopeful sign" that "there are currently no prohibitions in the Church to think or speak [heresies]" and that there is talk of an [invalid] "deaconate of women".
According to him, "the whole system of electing bishops needs to be reconsidered" and "this is urgent not only in Germany, but in other countries as well". Krämer has a point here, considering that Rome has made any number of freak bishops in recent decades.
Krämer is reinventing failed Anglicanism by saying that he wants bishops who are also elected by the laity and "accepted by the faithful", i.e. the media of the oligarchs.
At the same time, he doesn't want "election campaigns or power struggles" in his new system of electing bishops: "It is not easy to develop a new system, but it is very necessary."
Krämer also believes that "it makes sense to pause after a certain period in office and ask whether it should continue or not".
He says that "there are already solutions where leadership positions are given for a limited period of time - with votes of confidence". Krämer does not rule out the possibility of considering a time limit on the office of bishop and an earlier age limit for diocesan bishops [while Francis is now 87...].
But the real problems of the Church in Germany, such as apostasy from the Catholic faith and moral decadence, are glossed over in the interview.
