Sister Luisa Dell'Orto Was Murdered Intentionally

Italian born Sister Luisa Dell'Orto was not killed in Haiti during a robbery, TV2000 reported.

On Saturday 25 June, at around 9.30 a.m., on Delmas 19 street in Port au Prince a car rammed into her car, pushing the driver's side towards a wall.

Three hooded men dressed in black got out of the ramming car. One of them fired four shots at the sister who died two hours later in hospital. Nothing was stolen.
After graduating in History and Philosophy, Luisa joined the Little Sister of Charles de Foucault in 1984 and worked in Cameroon and Madagascar before arriving in Haiti in 2002 where she ran a house for children alone. Having earned a second doctorate in Lugano, Switzerland, she was also teaching at the seminary. She would have turned 65 on June 27.

Franciscan Sister Marcella Catozza who activates in Haiti and had regular phone calls with Sr Luisa, called her “strong-willed” but also “shy and humble” adding that “in so many years, she has never called me Marcella, but always Sister Marcella to emphasise that the centrality of our vocation.”

Sister Luisa also belonged to the Comunione e Liberazione movement.
