The reaction is not exactly new on the part of Francis. He scolded a person, and more vigorously, for similar incident a few years ago in Mexico.
The Pope was greeting a crowd in the city of Morelia, Mexico, in 2016 when someone apparently grabbed him by the hand and wouldn't let go. His normally smiling face morphed into a look of anger as he apparently yelled at the person in the crowd.

Give him a break. He's an old man in his 80's and not good on his feet. I'm not fond of people pulling my leg let alone swinging out of me and I'm a lot younger than PF.
