Traditionis Custodes Couldn't Stop Roman Rite - Monsignor Bux

The Novus Ordo is presented by its proponents as a "development" of the classical Roman rite, but Benedict XVI described it as having 'deformations at the limit of what is bearable' on 7 July 2007.

Therefore, the Novus Ordo needs a restoration of the "sense of mystery", the liturgist Monsignor Nicola Bux told LaNuovaBq.it on July 7.

He describes the effect of Francis’ 2021 text Traditionis Custodes as "not that impressive": "Obedience, which must characterise bishops and priests, has obviously slowed down the celebration of the ancient Roman rite, but it can hardly stop it."

Monsignor Bux compares the situation of the Roman rite to the water in the river “that becomes richer as it flows”: “But if we reject this wealth of faith, prayer, and liturgy that we have received, how do we expect new generations to be able to reconnect with the Catholic Church?”

He mentiones the young people participating in traditional pilgrimages, such as Paris-Chartres and Covadonga in Spain.

The liturgy is not the result of our arbitrariness of bishops, the Pope nor the Apostolic See, Bux says: “For even the Pope is subject to the Word of God and therefore to the tradition that this Word over two millennia has brought down to the present generation.”
