Wrongly Accused Spanish Priest: Judgment Overturned

The Supreme Court of Castilla y León has overturned a verdict sentencing Reverend Pedro Francisco Rodríguez of Toledo, Spain, to seven years (!) in prison for "continuous sexual abuse" of a pupil.

The accuser even filed a complaint with the Vatican to investigate both the negligence and possible cover-up of the case by the Archdiocese of Toledo, but never contacted the Archdiocese itself.

Now the court has upheld the priest's appeal and acquitted him on the grounds that 'during the investigation he was unjustly deprived of the means to defend himself'.

Spain is therefore faced with yet another false accusation that has ruined the life of a priest.

During the trial, the priest denied all the facts and insisted that the minor who denounced him was a "problematic" person who sought his support after being harassed by his classmates at the minor seminary in Toledo where he was studying.

In his testimony, he said that the victim had a "strange, closed, egocentric" behaviour that caused rejection from others. "He wanted to be different from the others," he said.

The accused priest said the boy bullied him by taking advantage of his patience. He said that at first he thought the boy liked him, but then "it turned into hatred".

When the priest was sentenced, the archdiocese of Toledo issued a statement pointing out that the judicial system had rejected the case four times and that the accuser had "never contacted the archdiocese".

The archdiocese expressed its "solidarity" with the false victim.

The fact that the accused priest belonged to the Archdiocese of Toledo, one of the best in Spain, was an incentive for the oligarchs' anti-Church media activists to orchestrate a campaign against this priest.

On his anti-Catholic website ReligionDigital.org, the former priest José Manuel Vidal even called the innocent priest the "Karadima of Toledo" and accused the Bishop of Toledo, Monsignor Cerro Chaves, of "lying".

Now, ReligionDigital.org hid the news of the reversal of the sentence.
