They have been supporting EWTN and Catholic News Agency or other institutions close to Pope John Paul II. Therefore Magister believes that the support of "Vatican Insider" expresses the need to make their profile more acceptable to Pope Francis.
Another liberal tending outlet supported by the Knights is cruxnow.com, originally started by the anticlerical Boston Globe but quickly dropped because of the lack of advertising revenue. Other supporters of cruxnow.com are the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Archdioceses of Washington, New York, and Los Angeles.

Ironically, the liberal apostate American National Catholic Reporter looks askance at the Knights of Columbus for their support of allegedly conservative/right wing politics. A mortal sin, it seems! The liberal/left support for political issues is above reproach, apparently.
