Back Again: Our Lady takes possession of Notre Dame

Thousands of French Catholics accompanied the famous white statue of Our Lady in a torchlight procession to return it to its place in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on Friday. The statue known as the 'Vierge du pilier' (Virgin of the Pillar), was found intact after the fire in April 2019 (pictured below).

Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris told the crowd that the Virgin was "back at home" in Notre Dame. For the past five years, she has taken refuge in the church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois.

The statue used in the procession was a replica, but Archbishop Ulrich blessed the real one in the cathedral. The procession was the last diocesan event before the reopening of the cathedral on 7 December.

Perhaps Our Blessed Mother feels like she has been kidnapped and placed in a pagan temple.

SonoftheChurch

That Aztec-looking monstrosity deceptively posing as a “Catholic Holy Altar” profanes and desecrates the entire Cathedral. 😖

Good observation SonoftheChurch. The table is symbolism of "ark" of Protestants. Our Lord deserves better, and Our Lady who witnessed her Son's Passion at the foot of the cross knows better than anyone.

Poor Luther -- he had better taste than to use an altar like this. The church of a good friend, who is a Missouri Synod Lutheran pastor, has a very nice altar, facing the wall. But he is more Catholic than the Modernists who run the Catholic Church.
