Pope Francis Receives Oxygen Through Ventimask

The Holy See Press Office said on Thursday evening that Francis' clinical condition continues to improve:

"Today he alternated high flow oxygen therapy with Ventimask.

Given the complexity of the clinical picture, further days of clinical stability are needed to clarify the prognosis.

The Holy Father dedicated the morning to respiratory physiotherapy alternating with rest.

In the afternoon, after another session of physiotherapy, he gathered in prayer in the chapel of the private apartment on the 10th floor, where he received the Eucharist.

Then he [allegedly] devoted himself to work."

They are prolonging his suffering.

Perhaps, but other than refusing "heroic measures" we are all called to suffer the type of death God ordains for us. No "death with dignity" [MAID] nonsense for Catholics! 🙏

Whether it's "good news" is open to interpretation.

I see nothing to indicate that he is improving
He is still in critical condition, which indicates instability of vital signs. When they indicate his condition is critical and stable, perhaps that means the instability of his vitals is not getting worse.

For the second day in a row, there is no mention of Pope Francis being in critical condition, but the clinical picture remains complex.

The Pope has stepped up his chest physio to twice daily, indicating that he is increasingly getting fitter. He is moving onto a Ventimask, which is used to deliver a fixed concentration of oxygen, which also indicates that doctors think he is over any acute respiratory condition, namely the bronchitis that he was initially admitted to hospital for.
