Former America Magazine Director Leaves Jesuits and Priesthood

Jesuit Matt Malone, 52, has left the Jesuits and asked to be released from celibacy.

"I made this decision because I want to be free to have a family", he announced on X.com on December 19.

He added that he was "at peace" with his "choice." "I am aware that this news may be a source of disappointment to some of the men and women I have ministered to over the past two decades."

Father Malone "deeply loves both the Church and the Society of Jesus," he said.

A Massachusetts native, he was named president and editor-in-chief of America Media in 2012 at the age of 40. He left the Jesuit media company in 2022.

In November 2022, he spoke with Francis in the Vatican.

Actually there are narcissistic women who "go after" priests because they hate God and want to take something away from Him. I've known a few incidents where women [some even already married] seduced priests! We called them "chalice chippers" or "chalice snatchers".
