Cardinal Cobo of Madrid Refuses the Formation of a Sunday Mass in Roman Rite

A stable group of Catholics from Madrid recently asked the Archdiocese for a Sunday Mass in the Roman rite.

The negative response was signed by an episcopal vicar, Rev Jesús González Alemany, reports InfoVaticana.com on July 23. The ultimate responsibility lies with pro-homosexual Cardinal José Cobo of Madrid.

Rev Alemany excused his the decision with Francis’ document Traditionis custodes (2021) that prohibits the creation of new groups.

He claimed that the papal document is motivated by the desire to maintain liturgical unity as an expression of ecclesial communion. Rev Alemany states that, rather than integrating sensibilities, the proliferation of celebrations according to the ancient rite “has deepened the fracture of that communion”.
