There Is a Serious Crisis in Rome Diocese
• Francis has received representatives of the Neocatecumenal Way on June 27 and told them to obey the bishops [and not the other way around].
• The diocese of Rome is in a "serious crisis" because of squabbles between the neocatechumenals, who control the diocesan administration, and the Focolarini, who hold sway over the Lateran University and other institutions.
• If this were not Francis’ diocese this fight would long ago have triggered an Apostolic Visitation.
• The Lateran University will be given a commissioner and become a Vatican dicastery.
• Francis is also criticising Comunione e Liberazione and the Opus Dei.
• Praedicate Evangelium puts the Opus Dei under the Clergy Congregation, not the Bishops Congregation, and has destroyed the dream of the OD to be treated like a diocese.
