I liken it more with the parable of a tree and the fruit it bears. If this were in my orchard, I would have cut it down long ago. Saying something positive about your enemies is the first step to reconciling them or even opening their minds to evangelization. I've said this before, it still applies, your interpretation of Paul's "Be Ye Separate" is in direct contradiction to Christ's direct instructions to spread the Good News.
