New York based child psychologist, Mike Fraser has tips on how to get your kid on board. Aside from being consistent and establishing a culture of respect in your home, he suggests "Getting down on their level and make eye contact," to help reinforce that they've stepped over the line. He also suggests counting to three and allowing them that time to right their wrong. When in time out, "start the timer for one minute for every year of age," and insist that they apologize once their time is up.
