Ks. Karol Stehlin - Msza Św. na oświęcimskim Żwirowisku - sierpień 1998 r.
z kazania:
"(...) dla modlitwy przebłagalnej za te grzechy postawiono na tym miejscu krzyż, a siostry karmelitanki postanowiły osiedlić się na tym miejscu na stale i poświęcić temu celowi całe swoje życie. Dziś Sióstr tu już nie ma. Za czyją przyczyną – sami dobrze wiecie. Pięć lat wyczekano i zażądano usunięcia krzyża.

Sorry, off topic.
Even though Communion is very important thing for Catholic Church, no clear information about First Hand Communion.
Theodor Innitzer of Vienna celebrated on a people's altar in the 1930s - long before the liturgical reform.(someone's comment)
I thought it was Suenens or Bugnini.Więcej

The versus populum celebration question is separate from the Communion on hand question. For example, K. Wojtyla in the 1950's in Poland celebrated versus populum, most probably after his visit in the West where he met progressive priests. Moreover, for me, the sound doctrine and liturgical practice of the Church is far more important than individual aberrations.
And when it comes to aberrations (contrary to today revolutionaries sayings) ideas usually come before practices (and are more important). Most probably, the ideological source of negligent practices with respect to the Blessed Sacrament was a modernist poison diluting the dogma on the Real Presence and requiring the adjustment (named later as aggiornamento) of liturgical practice to the up-to-date religious consciousness / experience of the modern people. In other words, if modern people ceased to feel (as in case of "old school" "medieval" generations) the "static" Christ in the Host and started to "experience" His presence in the "dynamic" gathering, the community where we all are priests, then the Eucharist/Communion custom should have changed accordingly. So there was coined new human-centric "revolution in the parish" school. For example, if the Blessed Sacrament is not as blessed as before (because dynamism and Spirit of the community action is more important than the static individual adoration of the Consecrated Matter) and the people are more sacred than before (as sharing in the "common priesthood") then the Communion presented as the community action is more appropriate.

One more thing - if you are interested in history of liturgical experiments the book by Fr. D. Bonneterre (the title in English: The Liturgical Movement...) may be a good start.

No. Fr. Stehlin is a German born in Germany.
Although he has been in Poland for almost 30 years it still causes problems for some people.

Fr. Kolbe considered himself a Pole but had a part of German blood in his veins which is of course for God or for His good Catholics rather unimportant. And he was killed by Germans.

BTW, Poland in her most glorious years of history was a country where it did not matter where you were coming from - for example: cardinal Stanislaus Hosius of German ancestors was the most ardent defender of the Catholic Faith in Poland during the 16th Protestant revolution and ome of main advisors of the Polish king.
Nationalism is a tricky thing developed to deepen divisions in Catholicism/Christendom - though today, after the destruction of the Christendom by revolutionaries it became an obstacle on the way to build the New Global Sindom i.e. - the Empire of Sin (therefore liberalism and global neo-communism are used as two tools to demolish nationalism as a relic of the previous outdated stage).
