Even in the Church: Because of the Pope’s visit in Sri Lanka AsiaNews has quoted the srilankese Muslim and human rights activist Abdul Rasak: “We also love this pope because he has been critical in past occasions, and has taken the necessary steps to solve some scandals. In doing so, he has shown that there may be a social transformation even in the Church.”

Heinous Frivolities: Al-Azhar, one of the most prestigious Islamic institutions based in Egypt, has called Muslims to ignore the most recent anti-Islamic cartoons of the French weekly Charlie Hebdo. Quote: “Al-Azhar calls on all Muslims to ignore this heinous frivolities.” And: "The stature of the Prophet of mercy is greater and nobler than being tainted by cartoons that respect no morals or standards of civilization".

Ridiculing the Church’s Compassion: The last editorial of Charlie Hebdo makes fun about the Church. The editorial makes reference to Femen, a radical anti-religion group that hires prostitutes to stage topless crimes against religion as it recently happens in Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. Quote: “What made us laugh the most is that the bells of Notre Dame rang in our honour.” And: “We would like to send a message to Pope Francis, who, too, was ‘Charlie’ this week: we only accept the bells of Notre Dame ringing in our honour when it is Femen who make them tinkle.”

Crime Against a People: The bishops of the so called “Coordination Holy Land” have visited on Tuesday the Cremisan Valley in order to see the development of the Israeli separation wall that will cut off fifty Christian families from their land. 16 bishops from Europe, America, and South Africa belong to the group. A villager calls the situation created by the separation wall – quote – “a crime that needs to be stopped.”
