L'esortazione ad ascoltare Gesù rivolta ai tre apostoli (ma per loro tramite anche a tutti gli uomini) è la logica conseguenza di quanto è stato mostrato loro: se Gesù è il rivelatore del Padre, se si considera che ascoltarlo davvero comporta il vivere secondo la sua Parola, abbiamo qui un programma di vita per tutti i cristiani, esposto dalla più autorevole delle fonti. Programma non sempre facile, ma, a chi si impegna seriamente, dona sempre buoni frutti.
The exhortation to listen to Jesus addressed to the three apostles (but through them also to all men) is the logical consequence of what was shown to them: if Jesus is the revealer of the Father, if one considers that truly listening to Him entails living according to His Word, we have here a program of life for all Christians, set forth by the most authoritative of sources.
Program not always easy, but, to those who are seriously committed, it always gives good results. Pentecost therefore concerns us; Jesus' promise not to leave his friends orphans concerns men of every time and country; we too, explains the apostle Paul, "we were all baptized in one Spirit, to form one body".
