That night, Scholastica sensed her death was drawing near so asked Benedict to remain with her discussing holy matters. He didn't wish to as it was against his rule. She implored God and a sudden violent storm occurred which meant Benedict was unable to return to his monastery so stayed with her all night in holy discussions. A couple of days later her saw her soul rise to heaven like a dove
What a beautiful picture! What I remember about her is that she very much loved her brother, and she insisted on their sharing an evening together, even though he believed he had to get back to the Abbey. At the end of the evening, I think she died, and her soul flew up to heaven like a dove.
