Homosex-Activist Tobin Accepts Orthodox Polygamy
An "ecumenical group" co-chaired by Newark Cardinal Joseph Tobin wants the Church to "recognise" immoral [pseudo] marriages of divorcees contracted in Orthodox churches.
The Orthodox do not respect Christ's prohibition of divorce. Tobin famously wrote a "Nighty-night, baby" message allegedly to his sister in 2018 while a homosexual was living with him in his private apartment.
The "ecumenical group" published a paper on 5 March, which they had already agreed to in May 2023. Among the recommendations is this:
"Catholic hierarchs seek ways to accept the pastoral decisions of Orthodox ecclesiastical courts and hierarchs, and not only recognise with the Orthodox hierarchy the remarriages, in some carefully examined cases [= "individual case" trick], of divorced spouses [= adulterers] in mixed marriages, but also allow such divorced and remarried Catholic parties [= adulterers], in marriages with Orthodox Christians, Eucharistic participation in the Catholic Church."
Back in May 2023, Tobin said that the meeting "marks a turning point".
The Orthodox have not only failed to maintain priestly celibacy, but also accept [pseudo] marriages for divorcees, even after two or more [pseudo] marriages.
However, Rev Michael Fuller, general secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued an unusual "Catholic disclaimer" at the top of the document. He stated that the document had "no authority beyond that of the dialogue commission itself".
