Apply that "saintly" justification to a priest who feels Francis formally confirming The Church's teachings against homosexuality is wrong. If Father Froot-Loop feels "the true Faith" includes condoning homosexuality because Christ said we should love everyone, does that give him the right to contradict Francis?
