Fitting for Chaos-Tucho: Allowing Women an Acolyte-Like "Deaconess"
ElWanderer.com wrote on 19 November that this is an "imminent danger" because of Tucho’s track record of never missing an opportunity to cause serious problems for the Church.
In Catholicism, Holy Orders in the three forms deacon, priest and bishop are reserved for men for ontological reasons.
ElWanderer speculates that Tucho will resort to the tactic he applied in Fiducia Supplicans, which he likely considers 'brilliant': a non-liturgical blessing for each of the lovers, but not for the couple.
Regarding female deacons, Tucho could argue that the female diaconate does not belong to the sacrament of Holy Orders, but is ministerial. Therefore, women can receive it, as Pope Francis claimed in 2021.
Receiving a 'diaconate' would be an upgrade for women, as it would be a step up from the acolyte.
They could wear an alb and a strip of fabric in the relevant liturgical colour, similar to a stole, but not a stole; women could wear this like a shawl or scarf. In other words, yes and no — it would cause confusion, chaos and further division.
