Francis This Morning: "Don't forget: witness, yes; proselytism, no."
Francis (Mass, April 30) recounted a time he rebuked a woman for claiming to have converted two children to Catholicism; "listen, you have not converted anyone: it was God who touched these people's hearts. And don't forget: witness, yes; proselytism, no."
Francis (Mass, April 30) recounted a time he rebuked a woman for claiming to have converted two children to Catholicism; "listen, you have not converted anyone: it was God who touched these people's hearts. And don't forget: witness, yes; proselytism, no."
Proselytism is conversion by force. That's not what Jesus commanded us to do. He said, "Ye shall be witnesses" (Acts 1:8), and "make disciples of all nations" (Matt.28:18). Jesus never forced anyone to follow Him neither did His disciples and missionaries ever since. So Bergoglio's hype about "proselytism" is only to create confusion, like everything else he said.

The lesson of today's homily is, don't waste your time trying to win this clown's approval through Catholic missionary work.
