Fr. Romanelli Corrects News Reports: Gaza Parish Area NOT under Evacuation Order

On August 19, Fr. Gabriel Romanelli, the parish priest of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza, told Vatican Media that the parish neighborhood in Gaza City is not under an evacuation order. He was correcting previous reports by Italian media.

"There has been no evacuation order in our neighborhood. Our area is in the Old City of Gaza, within the larger Zeytoun neighborhood."

He added that the area is dangerous. Bombings can be heard night and day. Some are far away and some are closer. Sometimes, even shrapnel arrives,” said Fr. Romanelli.
