Not even the pope has the authority to ban the Traditional Latin Mass since this ancient liturgy was codified by Pope St Pius V to be the mass of all times. Any validly ordained Roman Catholic priest can offer the traditional Latin Mass, without permission, as long as he has been trained. Even two modernist popes understood this: JPII and Benedict-Ratzinger. There is also another fallicy floating around about the "Extraordinary Form." The "Extraordinary Form" is the de-facto liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church, not the Novus Ordo. One cannot simply discard the precepts and doctrines taught in the Council of Trent just because it is not suitable for modern man.

Oh my God obedience over sacrifice, did they change the scripture now? Didn't you read that the Canon Center said this Bishop is clearly abusing his power? Or are we just one of those who embraces this Judas Iscariot Francis...

This school is lucky enough to have a written instruction from the bishop. What if the same applies for another diocese where the bishop orally prohibits anything related to the traditional mass (not SSPX related)?

Where can laymen turn to (definitely not to their bishop)?

1. According to Summorum Pontificum (which is Ecclesiastical Law) it is not necessary that the bishop give permission. Obedience is not merely an act of the laity, it also applies to bishops: They must be obedient to the law of the Church.

2. If, however, Fisher More has been using priests from the SSPX, then that is dumb--leading with the chin.

3. IMHO, anyone who invokes the Judge not phrase (which has become a liberal mantra) should not then judge others.

Judge not and you shall not be judged. I don't think you've read the letter from the bishop if you curse the bishop as some have. It implies that permission was never granted in the first place by the bishop to have said mass here, it also implies that mass is being said by some priests who do not have the faculties to say the mass under the bishops direction (SSPX I guess? Rightly so, they have chosen to leave the visible confines of the church in my opinion: God says: "What I want is obedience, not sacrifice", that is, God wants people to be obedient to the Pope and his bishops (his appointees) first, even if sacrifices are not to be done "properly", as SSPX member allege - do what God wants, not what you want and you might make it to heaven. SSPX member in my opinion suffer from secularism: they believe more in their own individual selves than the communal body of Christ). It is the bishops right and duty under these circumstances to protect the beauty and integrity of the mass by taking away the eucharist if it being abused.

If you are SSPX, convert and come back to God. Be obedient, putting God first, rather than yourself and your own understanding of the mass, even if you are right in saying the mass is "better" under the extraordinary form.

This is disgraceful. Pray that the Bishop see's the error in his letter, and while we do that consider this.
