Mother Angelica's wonderful monastery. I hope they are growing. All cloistered Orders of nuns should be traditional like this....no "Vatican II" updating.

Sadly, they were subject to a 'visitation' several years back, and although they emerged with their Catholic ethos in tact, it took a toll. I've been told that they have about a dozen sisters. When Mother Angelica was alive they were growing explosively.

@Orthocat -Pope Francis at work again, and the sad results. I remember watching EWTN-TV when I was in high school. My Grandmother loved Mother Angelica, and watched the Mass from the Shrine every day. She volunteered at our local elementary school during the day in the library (up until 2020), but faithfully watched EWTN. My Grandmother loved Mother Angelica, and watched the Mass from the Shrine every day. She volunteered at our local elementary school during the day in the library (up until 2020), but faithfully watched EWTN. I remember the choir with the nuns, I think at one point they had nearly 40. I do know that two of the nuns quit the monastery and both founded their own Orders. One is a small Benedictine community in Italy which only has about 10 members, and the other nun, Sister Mary Agnes who for years conducted the choir, I forget the name of her new Order, but she founded one as well. I think it's more or less a teaching Order she founded.
Mother Angelica founded two religious Orders herself, the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word (priests/brothers), and the Sister-Servants of the Eternal Word. Both are in the TV/communications apostolate. But sadly, I think the male branch will eventually be supressed because they've been in existance for almost 40 years, and still only have about 14 members and had alot of departures.....even 2 priests who quit the Order and the priesthood. The Sister-Servants, though small with around 25 members, is stable and slowly growing.🙏

Just to be clear - the visitation of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration (EWTN) actually took place before Francis. It was a result of Cardinal Mahoney's ire against Mother Angelica due to her comments against him on her live show. Plus the U. Much like that Francis mouthpiece [Faggoli or Ivereigh, can't remember which] due to Raymond Arroyo & the Papal posse critics. I took much abuse in seminary because I admired Mother & credited EWTN with my vocation. I was considered suspect by the Vatican II crowd. Oh, and even though the sisters are faithful, they don't pray the TLM but a reverent N.O. in Latin.
