Works of Fr Rupnik Hangs Still in Francis' Apartment

A work of art by Father Marko Rupnik still hangs in Francis' personal apartment in the Vatican's Santa Marta residence. It can be seen on the wall next to a door during Francis' video call to Gaza on Wednesday.

The image of a sleeping St Joseph with an angel above him is a detail of a larger mosaic installation in a chapel of a religious house in Croatia.

The image, which has previously appeared in Francis' videos, has been criticised internationally but has not been removed.

Another of Fr Rupnik's works, which hangs in Francis' personal quarters, is a mosaic of Mary and the Child Jesus. Francis mentioned in 2018 that this image was a personal gift from Rupnik.

The Slovenian Father Rupnik has been credibly accused of fornicating with dozens of nuns and has already been found guilty of absolving one of them of their shared sin in confession.
