Argentina: Our Lady Is Not There, But She Can Be Seen

Since 2011, the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes in Alta Gracia, Archdiocese of Córdoba, Argentina, has been experiencing a phenomenon that remains unexplained.

In the empty niche above the altar an image of Our Lady can be seen. The image is clearly visible from the front door and can be photographed. It fades as you approach the altar.

The Argentine news agency AICA describes the image as three-dimensional, like a relief, with folds in the garment.

The chapel was built in the 1920s. For many years there was a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in the niche. In 2011 it was removed for restoration. One day, one of the priests in charge of the shrine was about to close the chapel when he saw the phenomenon for the first time from the main door: an image that looked like it was made of plaster.

He approached several times, and each time the image began to fade.

Sources at the shrine confirmed to CatholicNewsAgency.com (12 February) that the same phenomenon can be seen to this day.

Maybe they should take the hint and put the statue back?
