INITIAL SENTENCE
O Mary, Mother of mercy: remember the children you have in purgatory and, presenting our suffrages and your merits to your Son, intercede so that he may forgive them their debts and take them out of those darkness into the admirable light of his glory, where they enjoy your sweetest sight and that of your blessed Son.
O glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, intercede together with your Wife before your Son for the souls of purgatory. Amen.
It is read about every day.
DAY 10
Meditation
Resignation of the souls of Purgatory
Knowing that God is the last end of the rational creature and unfortunately not being able to love him, is the punishment of harm suffered by the reproach in Hell. Loving God free and necessarily and not being able to enjoy it by demerit is the punishment of harm proper to Purgatory; and if the hatred, which for lack of grace the unfortunate condemned have against God, forms a large part of their sorrows, the vehemence of the love with which the souls of Purgatory, animated by grace, sigh for their God adds so much intensity to their sorrows that it almost makes them superior to those of Hell itself. Ah!, certainly unsatisfied love is the cruelest torment of the human heart. Let us take care, then, oh Christians!, to fix such a vehement affection. For the great love that the souls of Purgatory have for God, they want to join him at all times, but they cannot achieve it until they are fully purified in the flames; therefore, the more they sigh to see God stimulated by love, they also want not to see them stopped by their demerits. Love, then, at the same time moves and stops them, raises and knocks them down, ignites and freezes them, and with the continuous alternation of opposite affections, they hurt and shatter their spirit in such a way, that the fire that burns them inside is much more cruel than the one that embraces them from the outside.
The peace of the soul is the happiness of man, and we, how do we love peace and seek it with works? Attended to the perfect love for God, souls, in this world, must be resigned in their sorrows, and resignation sweetens their bitterness in such a way that it dislikes less, and sometimes what is suffered becomes pleasant. But in Purgatory it is not so, because for the same reason that those souls are more resigned to the will of God, they are also more tormented, because by virtue of their same conformity they wish to become entirely worthy of their love and, knowing that they are not yet, they get rid of being so as soon as possible by dint of suffering. Therefore, the more they suffer, the more they want to suffer and they are never satied with their torments. What kind of martyrdom is this inexplicable?, and we, oh Christians!, will only look for roses and flowers, amusements and pleasures? Let us be confused, then, and amend ourselves properly.
Prayer
Oh, how much confusion it causes us, oh Lord!, our behavior! We humble ourselves by considering the admirable resignation of the souls of Purgatory. Ah!, for this same resignation give them, oh great God!, freedom. Those who are willing to suffer greater torments no longer deserve to be punished. It is very worthy of your glory who would abstain from it for longer in order to deserve it even more. Accept, O Lord!, the generous feelings of those souls and be generous with them too, forgiving all their past faults and admitting them in the enjoyment of your eternal happiness. Amen.Eternal Father, for the most precious blood of Jesus, mercy.

Let's pray. Oh my God, of whom it is proper to have compassion and forgiveness: we beg you pleading for the souls of your servants whom you have ordered to migrate from this world, especially for the souls of our relatives, friends and benefactors (they can be named by their proper name), so that you do not leave them in purgatory, but that you order your holy angels to take them and take them to the homeland of paradise, so that, because they waited and believed in you, they do not suffer the sorrows of purgatory, but possess the eternal joys. For Christ our Lord. Amen.
V. Give them, Lord, eternal rest.
R. And shine for them perpetual light.
V. Rest in peace.
R. Amen.
