INITIAL SENTENCE
O Mary, Mother of mercy: remember the children you have in purgatory and, presenting our suffrages and your merits to your Son, intercede so that he may forgive them their debts and take them out of those darkness into the admirable light of his glory, where they enjoy your sweetest sight and that of your blessed Son.
O glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, intercede together with your Wife before your Son for the souls of purgatory. Amen.
It is read about every day.
DAY 18
Meditation
With the holy indulgences the souls of Purgatory are supported.
Another very effective means, whose origin dates back to the apostolic times and with which the souls of Purgatory are supported, are the holy indulgences, thanks to which the temporary punishment due to sins is referred. The merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ, of Mary Most Holy and of the Saints form this precious treasure, and just as these merits constitute an infinite value, so the holy indulgences can be granted without any limit, plus the dispensing of them, is reserved for the pastors of the Church and mainly to the Supreme Roman Pontiff. There are indulgences granted to the living, which are not earned except by those who fulfill the prescribed works, and others in favor of the deceased, which can be applied by the living. Oh, how kind the Lord has been in multiplying the means of helping Purgatory! Among the indulgences, some are partial, which forgive only one part, and others plenary, which forgive all the temporary punishment that was prescribed for each sin in the old penitential canons. Therefore, if a partial indulgence for the souls of the deceased is earned, part of their debt is ordinarily discounted; if a plenary, it erases you entirely and free from that prison of fire they fly to enjoy the eternal happiness of Paradise. Oh!, who is there among us who can't procure Purgatory so well? We all have the legitimate mission to do it, we can all
If we want, and the more generous the Church is in opening its treasures in favor of those souls who suffer so much, we will be more inexcusable if we do not. To win the holy indulgences for the deceased, the state of grace and the execution of the prescribed works are required. The first requirement, therefore, is to be free from all mortal sin in the fulfillment of the aforementioned works, and if anyone is not, they must be purified with a good and holy confession. The second is to practice the prescribed works, which usually consist of confession, communion and prayer of some prayers according to the will of the grantor. And it should be noted that people who usually approach the sacrament of penance every eight days can earn all the indulgences that fall in the course of the week, even if they do not confess more often. The means, therefore, of the holy indulgences not only benefits the souls of Purgatory, but also sanctifies ours with the use of the sacraments and with the exercise of virtues. Therefore, it is our commitment to reap this double fruit of such a healthy means of salvation.
Prayer
The greater, O Lord!, is your dignification in providing us with abundant means with which to relieve the souls of Purgatory, the greater must be our commitment to value them in favor of those unhappy no less than of our own souls. The holy indulgences are an inexhaustible treasure, always open for the benefit of the living and the deceased, and the more you are pleased, the more the faithful enrich themselves from it. Behold, then, O Lord!, that we intend to win all the indulgences granted by the exercise of this devotion and we promise you to win others in the future to pay for Purgatory and for our own use. But you, O Lord!, prevent us, accompany us, always assist us with your grace in such a devout effort so that we do not lack the necessary provisions to obtain copious fruit. Amen.Eternal Father, for the most precious blood of Jesus, mercy.

Oh my God, of whom it is proper to have compassion and forgiveness: we beg you pleading for the souls of your servants whom you have ordered to migrate from this world, especially for the souls of our relatives, friends and benefactors (they can be named by their proper name), so that you do not leave them in purgatory, but that you order your holy angels to take them and take them to the homeland of paradise, so that, because they waited and believed in you, they do not suffer the sorrows of purgatory, but possess the eternal joys. For Christ our Lord. Amen.
