Girlguiding said the decision was made in response to the Supreme Court ruling, affirming that womanhood is defined by biological sex in law rather than self-identification. “From today (2 December) trans girls and young women, and others not recorded female at birth, will no longer be able to join Girlguiding as new young members,” the organization announced. The trustees of Girlguiding said the “difficult decision” was made with a “heavy heart” and that further announcements regarding current members will be made.
