Masquerade: Whom Did Tagle Want to Impress?

The Emir of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, an US supported tyrant, received Cardinal Tagle, the Prefect of Propaganda Fidei on Friday.

Accompanied by the local Nuncio and the Apostolic Administrator, Tagle handed to the dictator a message from Francis thanking him for the December 10 inauguration of the spartanic Cathedral of Our Lady of the Arabs.

Francis praised Al Khalifa’s interest in “strengthening relations between different religions and cultures” while he is repressing Bahrain’s Shia majority (70%).

The three prelates were dressed up in white cassock, mozetta and cincture, indicating that, for this occasion, Tagle did not trust his usual humility drive which dominates the Vatican’s current clerical fashion.
