Founder Leaves His Charismatic Community

Father Nicolas Buttet, a former politician in the canton of Valais (Switzerland), is leaving the charismatic community "Eucharistein" which he founded in 1996, reports Cath.ch (19 January).

The community has 30 members in 3 houses. Father Buttet has been released from his vows to the community. He will remain a priest of the diocese of Fréjus-Toulon, France.

The community remains "grateful for all it has received from its founder", such as the "charism of adoration and hospitality" [but is happy that he is gone]. Father Buttet has been living outside the community since May 2020, after 12 years of leadership.

The community called for a visitation in the winter of 2021, which described Buttet as exercising an "omnipotent authority" over infantilised members. Buttet didn't accept the report and appealed against the sanctions imposed on him. The charges against him are rather vague.

A majority of the members did not want the founder to return. His definitive departure "clarifies the situation", said Claire Lasser from the house in Château Rima, France.

Buttet has been living in a hermitage since 2022 and has not presided at a public Eucharist since then.

@foward Can you define the Charismatic movement for us?
foward
Something unknown. Which is precisely the problem.
foward
Charismatic movement is fake and absurd, heretical too
foward

Many never grow much bigger than 10-30 members, One good example are the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word, founded in the inspiration of the great Mother Angelica of EWTN fame. The community claims to be solidly Catholic, but does not use the TLM, or Catholic traditions. Moreover, they are "loyal" to the papacy of Francis. One sign that they are not successful is that they have not expanded beyond their base in Birmingham, AL., and still have only 12-15 members and have had massive departures (including priests), and also a problem with 2-3 members who were gay,

@Kenjiro M. Yoshimori For the majority of Catholic history (1570 years) we did not celebrate the TLM so were those Catholics not solid?
