Francis' Ex Bishops Synod Has No Christian Roots

The upcoming synod on synodality does not reflect the understanding of synodal government in the Eastern Churches, wrote Spanish-born Greek Catholic Exarch Manuel Nin, 67, of Athens (August 3, ElCathEx.gr).

Nin will attend the synod but opposes the inclusion of lay people as voting members, noting that “such synodality does not exist in the East.”

A synod cannot resemble a [decadent] Western democracy, possibly parliamentary, "where everyone can say everything" [and the oligarchs decide at the end].
