Benedict XVI: Airports are mirrors of the world.

In every project and activity, the first capital that must be protected and valued is the human person in its integrity. This is what Benedict XVI recalled in his speech to directors and staff of the Italian civil aviation, who were received in audience on Saturday, February 20th.

Referring to the current economic crisis, the Pope noted that, nonetheless, the respect for the primacy of the person and the attention to its needs are a significant guarantee of true efficiency and authentic quality.

The airport today is more and more a mirror of the world, the Pope said, a place of humanity, where people from different nationalities, cultures and religions encounter one another. The Church pays special attention to this world of travelers and migrants, and through her airports chaplains, she looks after the spiritual needs of this part of humanity.
