Buenos Aires: Hard Times for Archbishop Aguer
At issue is the Monseñor Espinosa Priestly Home in Flores, Buenos Aires. It is a residence for elderly priests and bishops. Among the thirty or so priests who live there are the Archbishop Emeritus of La Plata, Monsignor Héctor Aguer, and the Bishop Emeritus of Quilmes, Monsignor Luis Stöckler.
The residents suffer from neglect and lack of basic maintenance.
The permanent deacon in charge of the home - a protégé of Bergoglio's - was fired and replaced by an incompetent woman from the cathedral.
The lift in the residence does not work. Many priests have been without internal telephones for several days, and attention and care have been noticeably affected.
So much so that even the residents sent a letter with their complaints to the Bishop of Flores, Monsignor Pedro Cannavó. So far they have received no response.
It seems that Monsignor Cannavó, who travelled to Rome to try to see Pope Francis at the Gemelli, has neither the time nor the inclination for this kind of domestic issue.
