FSSP Priest, 47, Dies in Fire

Father Miguel Stegmaier, 47, a priest of the Fraternity of Saint Peter, died accidentally in a fire on the night of 19-20 December in Geroldsgrün/Langenbach, Bavaria.

The priest was saved by the fire brigade, but died in hospital of smoke intoxication. Stegmaier was born in Santiago de Chile in 1976. He entered the seminary in Wigratzbad, Germany, in 1996 and was ordained a priest in June 2003.

Until 2020 he was responsible for the apostolate of the fraternity in Cologne. In 2020 he took "some time off to recover his health".
