Lo ricordiamo in particolare oggi che è giornata di preghiera per le vocazioni. I chiamati risponderanno di sì, o si negheranno? Saranno buoni o cattivi pastori, o magari un mediocre impasto tra i due? Ai fini della fede, poco importa; si crede non nei vescovi o nei preti, ma in Gesù Cristo, che nel mistero della sua sapienza ha scelto di raggiungerci tramite i ministri istituiti nella Chiesa da lui voluta. Essi sono solo strumenti nelle sue mani: se buoni o cattivi, ciascuno di loro risponderà a lui. In ogni caso sanno di non essere loro i salvatori; anche i migliori devono ammettere (Lc 17,10): "Siamo inutili servi".

We remember Him especially today which is a day of prayer for vocations. Will those called answer yes, or will they deny themselves? Will they be good or bad shepherds, or maybe a mediocre mix between the two? For the purposes of faith, it matters little; one believes not in bishops or priests, but in Jesus Christ, who in the mystery of his wisdom has chosen to reach us through the ministers instituted in the Church he willed. They are only tools in His hand: whether good or bad, each of them will answer to Him. In any case, they know that they are not the saviors; even the best must admit (Lk 17:10): "We are useless servants".
