Infant Jesus with Rosary.

"Perhaps too, there are some who fear that the Rosary is somehow unecumenical because of its distinctly Marian character. Yet the Rosary clearly belongs to the kind of veneration of the Mother of God described by the Council: a devotion directed to the Christological centre of the Christian faith, in such a way that “when the Mother is honoured, the Son ... is duly known, loved and glorified”. The Jews and Muslims never worry if their demands for "kosher" or "halal" food are "unecumenical". It's part of their faith and they want it respected. We have every right to do the same. Why is it always Catholics who have to be the ones wringing our hands fretting over what the non-Christians and heretics think about our faith? Their opinion is irrelevant. They've already damned themselves through their own stubbornness. Our Lord was brutally explicit on that subject, see John 14:6

Incidentally, the Orthodox use a knotted prayer rope called a komboskini (Greek) or a chotki (Russian). Many non-Christian religions use beaded prayer-counters as well. The Muslims use a misbaha, Hindus use a japa, Sikhs use a mala, Buddhists use a juzu. And most importantly, none of them care in the slightest what everyone else thinks about it.
