I don’t think that anybody seriously believes that Assad or anybody else in the Syrian government really ordered a chemical weapons attack on anybody. To believe that it would require you to find the following sequence logical: first, Assad pretty much wins the war against Daesh which is in full retreat. Then, the US declares that overthrowing Assad is not a priority anymore (up to here this is all factual and true). Then, Assad decides to use weapons he does not have. He decides to bomb a location with no military value, but with lots of kids and cameras. Then, when the Russians demand a full investigation, the Americans strike as fast as they can before this idea gets any support. And now the Americans are probing a possible Russian role in this so-called attack. Frankly, if you believe any of that, you should immediately stop reading and go back to watching TV.

@Holy Cannoli: Ok, then keep being fooled by the New York Fake News Times, the Washington Fake News Post, the CNN and all those who suddenly like their new hero: Hillary Trump. They are very pro-Israel, pro Saudi Arabia, pro Immigration, Pro Islam and they hate Catholics. Go ahead. This is your choice. Keep reading and watching them. And don't forget that Hillary Clinton was the first to congratulate Hillary Trump for his/her war crime.

Sources have identified the boyfriend as former right-winger Lew Rockwell of the Ludwig Von Mises think tank located in Alabama, who is himself married.
Sheehan was in Texas for over a week to confront President Bush about the war in Iraq, demanding a second meeting with the man she calls a ‘murderous b*stard.’

Sources say that Sheehan met Lew Rockwell in an Internet chatroom, and exchanged 600 text mail messages before her husband learned of the affair through phone records.

This tactic saves Assad something more precious than money: time. The sooner he finishes cleaning up, the more money he saves, and the sooner he can start raking in the billions that international donors and investors have already pledged to “reconstruct” his shattered country.

@Holy Cannoli: Let us be serious: Which advantage should a winning Assad have had from such an attack? Even the U.S. knows that Syria does not have such weapons. Where do the "pictures" from New York Fake News Times come from (the same paper that trumped up the "weapons of mass destruction" of Saddam Hussein)? These are territories completely under control of Al Quaida. Nobody knows what happened besides Al Quaida. The only war criminal here is Al Qaida and Hillary Trump.

So then, because an article appeared in the NYT with pictures and text showing the atrocities committed by Assad against his own people and that these acts have been confirmed by other news outlets as well, you completely reject it by the mere fact that it appeared in the NYT? Is it your opinion that everything (100% of it) printed in the NYT is fake and that it is solely politically driven?

Chemical weapons are a cheap, effective force — a way to inflict terror despite limitations of manpower and supply. Their use as a tactic instills fear in civilians and rebels alike. By discouraging them from joining the last remaining pockets of rebellion, this tactic saves Assad something more precious than money: time. The sooner he finishes cleaning up, the more money he saves, and the sooner he can start raking in the billions that international donors and investors have already pledged to “reconstruct” his shattered country.

Assad has already used chemical weapons in 2013 to kill his own people, and he paid a negligible price. Why would he risk it again? Because his own experience is showing him that he’ll likely face only minimal consequences. On the contrary, a look at history — and particularly Syrian history — shows that he has everything to gain.
