The DISCIPLES manner of speaking in tongues is in speaking "Greek" when Greeks are present, speaking "French" when French people are present. etc.... It does not involve rambling on in a language nobody understands until somebody speaks up and claims they understand it just giving a wild guess as they don't speak that language themselves.

During the apparitions of Our Lady of La Salette which took place in France in 1846, in which it was warned amongst other things that Rome would lose the Faith & that all Civil Governments would turn their backs on Christ , the Visionary of the apparitions was illiterate having received neither schooling nor religious instruction and could neither read or write. She was only a young child and did not speak French, speaking only the regional Occitan dialect and fragmented French common to the uneducated living in the region of her birth. However, when called to tell the French authorities of what had happened during the apparitions, she amazed everyone present by giving a word for word description of the event in fluent French to the degree that an automatic acceptance of the apparitions as being Divinely inspired was concluded. The local Bishop and her Priest being aware that she had not spoken French previously or been taught it at school.

THAT is what is meant within the Bible by "the gift of speaking in Tongues"

People who behave like Spiritists and just gabble on in a language that is not understood by an audience - should be wary as unless the message is being given so that a foreigner who is clueless of what is taking place, can be spiritually converted when with joy they hear the Gospel, it can be concluded that the tongue speaker is definitely being misled by Satan.

The Holy Spirit does not do party tricks. The games devils play risk being mistaken for the Holy Spirit unless a person is guided by the true Church....
