Beatification Was a Big Mistake, Obituary Already Written

• Vatican II must not be exalted beyond what it deserves and “should not be confused with the post-conciliar period” which was “disastrous.”
• Many of those who studied theology with Aguer during and after Vatican II left.
• After Vatican II, a Marxist infiltration began in the Argentinean Church.
• As a teenager, Aguer studied Saint Thomas Aquinas with famous Father Julio Meinvielle.
• Francis beatified left-wing Bishop Enrique Angelelli (+1976) as “martyr for the faith” but German born Bishop Bernardo Witte (+2015) brought in a team of German investigators to study the car accident in which Angelleli died, concluding that it was an accident, “Angelelli always drove badly.” Aguer, “I think the beatification was a big mistake.”
• “What is the Church of the poor? … The Church must make Christians of the poor.”
• During their meetings, Aguer used to say to some bishops, “You are extremists of the centre. You don't want to get on anybody's bad side, and you end up getting on everybody's bad side.”
• Aguer wanted to live in the La Plata seminary after his retirement, “But my successor [Kissing expert Tucho Fernández] didn't want me to.”
• The oligarchs’ journalists have already written Aguer’s obituary, "most controversial bishop," "ultra-conservative."
