@Luigik: Augustine of Hippo is indeed a great doctor of the Church Universal. HOwever, his title of Doctor does not preclude him from human error. An example of Augustine's imperfection is found in his Somatic Theology, ie his theology of the human body. THis led to the heresey of the Cathars in the late middle ages - "the human body is bad".
If one looks more towards the East, eg Basil of Caesaria and Ignatius of Antioch, one finds a more Christian Somatic Theology and therefore a more human face to Christ - "the human body is good".
In fine, Augustine of Hippo is quite the convertion story and his Dogmatic (doctrinal) Theology is just as amazing as the Greeks. Indeed, it was Augustine who brought it all together for Thomas Aquinas!
