There is a tendency nowadays to depict saints as people who bypass the realities of life and somehow attain sanctity with little effort. Here we have two pictures of Saint Anthony of Padua. The first is a fresco in the basilica dedicated to the saint in Padua, Italy, and it is the oldest known depiction of the great thirteenth century apostle and miracle worker. In this picture, we see a powerfully built Franciscan, his expression young though mature, serious and determined. The second is a holy card bought in the souvenir shop of the same basilica. This depiction is obviously not inspired by the fresco. Here we see a delicate, rosy cheeked young man, his face devoid of the natural masculinity necessarily brought on by the preacher’s arduous life. His is sentimental, of soft countenance, devoid of the personality and strength of character necessary for climbing the mountain of perfection. Anthony was born Ferdinand of Bouillon of a Portuguese noble family. Early in life he engaged in …More
13. Juni Festtag des hl. Antonius von Padua Altes Gebet zum hl. Antonius Heiliger Antonius, hochgepriesen! Amen

06/18/2026 Entire blog as a free PDF eBook. Many expected that Iran would go the way of Iraq, Libya, and Syria upon the start of the Third Gulf War, which is why the outcome of this conflict can be described as the upset of the century. Iran didn’t destroy Israel like it’s long threatened to do, nor did it sink any US ships like its media surrogates hyped supporters up to expect, but both – and especially Israel – were left badly battered. This is how Andrzej Korybko – an American political analyst living in Moscow who specialises in the global transition to a multipolar system – begins his Tuesday article on korybko.substack.com: Here’s How Iran Pulled Off The Upset Of The Century. The five points outlined in this analysis provide an excellent summary of Iran’s astute military-political strategy. Yesterday, at the conclusion of the G7 summit in Evian, France, Trump told reporters: Our [oil] reserves will be depleted in about four weeks. I have described Iran’s strategy as “excellent …
The Dangerous Lie: "I've Done Enough" The Gospel reading about the five foolish and five wise virgins reminds us that we are all part of the church, the bride of Christ. We must be prepared for His coming by continually growing in our love for Him, not settling for the bare minimum. This requires self-sacrifice and vulnerability, but it is the path to true fulfillment and eternal love with Christ. Fr. Another Mixed Bag Arrives In my last article I concluded that perhaps the title “Vicar of the Zeitgeist” was a bit timid. Then came the encyclical Magnifica Humanitas—if a 188-page book can even be called a “circular” (from the Greek enkyklios). Issued on the 135th anniversary of Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, Magnifica Humanitas (MH) has promptly elicited numerous critical appraisals, for after all we live in an epoch in which every papal document is anticipated with dread by anyone who still retains a memory of the unreconstructed Catholic religion and the teaching of the great pre-Vatican II Popes and their collective defiant nay to the spirit of the age which, so they warned us again and again, threatened the destruction of whatever was left of Christian civilization. In what has become the customary mode of postconciliar Vatican documents—that is, the Modernist mode—Magnifica Humanitas (MH) manages to further the de facto abandonment of the divine commission in the midst of …
The theatrical production "Peter and Paul in Rome," performed inside the Vatican, has brought Cardinal Gambetti back into the spotlight. The Franciscan cardinal, Archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica, continues to face intense criticism. Sources consulted by this newspaper reveal that Cardinal Gambetti attended the premiere. However, it was noteworthy that "the entire first row of reserved seats was empty" and that "many guests of honor" were absent... ...In response to this initiative, the Italian media outlet Silere Non Possum criticized Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, for continuing to "spend money without care or control" and for allowing people to "enter and exit Vatican City as if it were the most normal thing in the world, right in front of the Domus Sanctae Marthae" for three nights. The stage was set up in an area overlooking the apartments of many of the monsignors who reside there. While transparency and accountability regarding the …More

VIDEO LINK: youtube.com/watch?v=3ulFHIKFgd8 This special four-hour episode confronts one of the most consequential questions facing the Catholic Church today: is the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) on the right side of history? The SSPX’s Fr. Jonathan Loop argues that a continuing crisis in the Church has created a state of necessity that can justify extraordinary measures to preserve Catholic tradition and the priesthood. Fr. Gerald Murray does not think those extraordinary measures are justified and that the SSPX’s misapplication of canon law undermines the Church's divinely established authority.
Fri Jun 19, 2026 - 2:29 pm EDTFri Jun 19, 2026 - 3:08 pm EDT (LifeSiteNews) — St. Ignatius of Loyola, whose feast day is celebrated on July 31, has been measured by the stature of the order of priests and brothers he founded in the sixteenth century—the Society of Jesus (the “Jesuits”). Unfortunately for the Society and the whole Church, that order is now in serious decline. In a 2022 memo to fellow cardinals just before he died, Cardinal George Pell suggested an official investigation: Despite the dangerous decline in the West and the inherent fragility and instability in many places, serious consideration should be given to the feasibility of a visitation on the Jesuit Order. They are in a situation of catastrophic numerical decline from 36,000 members during the Council to less than 16,000 in 2017 (with probably 20-25% above 75 years of age). In some places, there is catastrophic moral decline. The order is highly centralized, susceptible to reform or damage from the top. The Jesuit …

Saint Marina the Monk | A Story of Humility and Hidden Holiness | Feast Day June 18th Today we remember Marina the Monk, whose feast day is celebrated on June 18. According to ancient Christian tradition, Marina desired to dedicate her life completely to God. After the death of her mother, she accompanied her father into monastic life. To remain with him, she lived in the monastery under the name "Marinus." Years later, Marina was falsely accused of wrongdoing. Although innocent, she accepted humiliation and suffering without revealing her identity or seeking revenge. She endured rejection, hardship, and misunderstanding with remarkable patience and trust in God. Only after her death was the truth discovered. The monks who had judged her realized the depth of her holiness and faithfulness. She is remembered for: Humility Patience during suffering Forgiveness and trust Hidden holiness Saint Marina's life reminds us that God sees the truth even when others do not. She …More
