German Bishop, "Lead Us Not into Temptation“ Is Faithful to the Gospel

Even liberal Bishop Peter Kohlgraf of Mainz, Germany, believes that a translation of the Our Father needs to be faithful to the Greek original.

Writing on a social media (December 10), Kohlgraf states that Jesus himself was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tempted and that a similar situation repeats itself in the garden of Gethsemane. He points out that God causes “existential test situation”, “God is apparently not only ‘nice’, a lot of his plan rests hidden to us men.”

German bishops' katholisch.de believes that Kohlgraf contradicts Francis.

Pope Benedict contradicts Bergoglio's heretical interpretation of the Our Father: "In this sense St. Cyprian interpreted the question. Can anyone give me the source for Pope Benedict's statements on the Our Father?

Frà Alexis Bugnolo As far as I know, Pope Benedict XVI's quotation is from his book Jesus of Nazareth. The Pope was quoting St CYPRIAN from the Catena Aurea by St Thomas Aquinas CYPRIAN. (Tr. vii. 17.) Herein it is shewn that the adversary can nothing avail against us, unless God first permit him; so that all our fear and devotion ought to be addressed to God.

If the pope would read Augustine on the Our Father or maybe the Catechism he might feel better about his Catholic Faith
